Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again targeted India over trade, calling the relationship between the two nations “one-sided.” Speaking at a public event, Trump alleged that India imposed 100% tariffs on American goods while continuing to freely access the U.S. market without facing equivalent charges.
Trump remarked, “They were doing business with us because we didn’t charge them, but they put 100% tariffs on us. That’s not a fair deal.” He suggested that such policies had hurt American businesses, particularly farmers and manufacturers, while benefitting India disproportionately.
This is not the first time Trump has raised concerns about trade relations with India. During his presidency, he often emphasized renegotiating trade agreements to make them more balanced and warned against nations he believed were exploiting U.S. markets.
His latest comments come amid renewed global debates on tariffs and trade wars, signaling that U.S.-India trade frictions may remain a political flashpoint in the upcoming American election cycle.
