Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off the very first direct train connecting Mizoram to Delhi, marking a historic milestone in the region’s connectivity. Speaking at the launch, PM Modi said that Mizoram has now been linked to the “frontline of development,” opening new avenues for trade, travel, and integration with the rest of the country.
The train will cover a distance of 2,510 kilometers, making it one of the longest train journeys in the region. Officials noted that this connection is expected to reduce travel time, ease passenger movement, and boost economic activity between the Northeast and the capital.
PM Modi highlighted that this initiative is not just about transportation but about building stronger national unity, ensuring that even remote regions remain connected to the mainstream of India’s progress.
