India, Russia Can Drag Down Their Failing Economies Together, Says Trump After Announcing 25% Tariffs

In yet another sharp rebuke, former U.S. President Donald Trump targeted India and Russia during a public appearance on Monday, claiming that the two nations “can take their dead economies down together.” The comment comes just hours after Trump announced a sweeping 25% tariff on a new list of imports, including products from several Asian and Eastern European countries.

Trump, speaking at a campaign-style rally in Florida, accused India of “taking advantage of U.S. trade goodwill” and criticized its growing strategic and economic ties with Russia. “India is teaming up with Russia, and that’s their choice,” he said. “But don’t come crying when their economies collapse together under the weight of corruption and mismanagement.”

The former president’s remarks have triggered widespread reactions across international media. While there has been no official response yet from New Delhi or Moscow, economic analysts have cautioned that such statements could further strain U.S. diplomatic relations, especially in the lead-up to a possible 2026 presidential campaign by Trump.

The 25% tariff is expected to affect electronics, chemicals, and auto parts, many of which are exported from India and Russia. Trump defended the move, calling it “a necessary correction” to what he described as “years of unfair trade deals.”

Observers note that Trump’s latest rhetoric mirrors his aggressive trade stance during his presidency, which included confrontations with China and threats to NATO allies. With growing tensions in global geopolitics, his recent words are being watched closely by governments and markets alike.
