The Supreme Court has reserved its order in the long-pending case concerning the management and welfare of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. The matter, which has drawn significant public and civic attention, involves balancing animal rights with public safety.
During the hearing, the bench heard arguments from civic bodies, animal welfare organizations, and resident associations. While advocates for stray dogs emphasized the need for humane treatment and sterilization programs, residents and local authorities highlighted the increasing incidents of dog attacks and the challenges in controlling the stray population.
The court acknowledged the complexity of the issue and stated that its final order will aim to ensure both public safety and the protection of animals under existing laws.
