New Delhi/Srinagar — In a significant breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made multiple arrests in connection with the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which left several security personnel and civilians injured.
According to official sources, those arrested are believed to be key logistical facilitators and local overground workers (OGWs) who allegedly provided shelter, communication support, and reconnaissance to the attackers. The coordinated crackdown took place in multiple locations across Anantnag, Pulwama, and Kulgam districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Digital Evidence Seized
NIA teams reportedly recovered mobile phones, encrypted messaging data, maps, and SIM cards used in planning the attack. Preliminary forensic analysis has pointed to connections with a cross-border terror module, with suspected links to handlers operating from across the Line of Control (LoC).
“These arrests mark a major step forward in dismantling the network behind the Pahalgam attack. Further interrogations and technical analysis are underway,” said an NIA official on condition of anonymity.
Background of the Attack
The terror strike in Pahalgam earlier this month targeted a paramilitary convoy, triggering a fierce gunbattle that lasted several hours. It was one of the deadliest attacks in the region this year, sparking national outrage and strong condemnation from both the central and state governments.

Union Home Minister praised the swift action by the NIA and reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Meanwhile, local leaders called for stepped-up security measures in South Kashmir and urged authorities to ensure protection for civilians amid rising threats.
