Government Revamps National Security Advisory Board After Pahalgam Terror Attack

New Delhi: In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of several security personnel and civilians, the Government of India has undertaken a significant restructuring of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) to enhance the country’s strategic and security preparedness.

The revamped NSAB will now include a wider range of experts from diverse backgrounds, including cyber security, intelligence, internal security, and international diplomacy. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Defence, and Intelligence agencies.

Officials stated that the move aims to “inject fresh perspectives and sharper strategic insights into national security policy formulation.” The new composition of the board is expected to include both serving and retired experts from the armed forces, intelligence community, and academia, particularly those with experience in counter-terrorism operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast.

Sources in the security establishment also indicated that the government is working on a multi-layered response strategy, which includes intensified counter-terror operations, diplomatic engagements with neighboring countries, and enhanced cooperation with international intelligence partners.

The Pahalgam attack, which occurred over the weekend, has been widely condemned across the nation. Security forces are continuing combing operations in the region as intelligence agencies track the handlers behind the attack.

This development underscores the government’s resolve to strengthen national security mechanisms and prevent any future lapses in intelligence and preparedness.
