Following the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing, the Union government has approved Z-category security cover for her. As part of this arrangement, more than 20 armed CRPF commandos will be deployed round the clock to ensure her safety.
The incident occurred yesterday during a Jan Sunwai (public grievance meeting), where an assailant managed to target the Chief Minister. Though she escaped without serious injuries, the attack raised major concerns over her security arrangements.
Officials confirmed that the CRPF security detail will accompany her at all times, including official engagements and travel. This step has been taken as a preventive measure to avoid any further threats.
