The newly elected BJP MLAs in Delhi are set to meet on Wednesday to elect their legislative party leader, who will be sworn in as the next Chief Minister on February 20. Reports indicate that the party is considering selecting the CM from among the newly elected MLAs, with discussions also ongoing about appointing a woman MLA to the post.
The oath-taking ceremony will take place on a grand scale at Ramlila Maidan, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other top leaders in attendance. Senior BJP leaders Tarun Chugh and Vinod Tawde are overseeing the event preparations.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized the BJP for delaying its CM announcement. AAP leader Gopal Rai claimed that the party’s internal struggles could result in three different CMs over the next five years, similar to the last BJP regime in Delhi.
