Forced Retirements Due to Disciplinary Issues

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vipin Mishra, the decision was made based on the number of punishments these officers had received over the past 10 to 13 years.

The retired officers include:

  • Sub-Inspector Anil Srivastava (30 punishments)
  • Sub-Inspector Sanjay Saxena (28 punishments)
  • Sub-Inspector Arvind Bahadur Singh (25 punishments)
  • Head Constable Shiv Mangal Singh (17 punishments)

Their offenses ranged from negligence, indiscipline, corruption, and misconduct. Before being retired, they were given an opportunity to appeal before a special committee, which ultimately rejected their pleas.

Mishra stated that this move is part of a larger effort to clean up the police force by removing officers involved in unethical practices.

Officer Punished in ‘Bad Touch’ Case

Sub-Inspector Gajendra Singh has been denied promotion for one year and will serve on a minimum salary after being accused of inappropriately touching a woman during a police transfer from Mumbai to Kanpur.

The woman had eloped with her boyfriend and married in Mumbai. When her family claimed she was underage, police were sent to bring her back. During the journey, she alleged that Singh groped her multiple times, a claim supported by a woman constable on the team.

Though no formal complaint was filed, Singh was held accountable, and a negative entry has been made in his service record.
