Arvind Kejriwal Alleges BJP Offering ₹15 Crore to AAP Candidates to Switch Sides; BJP Denies Claims

AAP Accuses BJP of Attempting to Poach Candidates Ahead of Delhi Election Results

Less than 48 hours before the Delhi Assembly election results, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to buy out AAP candidates. He claimed that 16 candidates were approached with an offer of ₹15 crore each and ministerial positions if they defected to the BJP.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s alleged tactics, stating:
“If they are truly winning more than 55 seats, why are they calling up our candidates? These fake surveys are a conspiracy to break AAP candidates. But not a single one of them will switch sides.”

Delhi Minister Mukesh Ahlawat Reiterates Allegations

Delhi minister and AAP candidate from Sultanpur Majra, Mukesh Ahlawat, echoed Kejriwal’s claims, saying he was also approached with an offer to switch sides.

“I may die, I may be cut into pieces, but I will never abandon Arvind Kejriwal,” Ahlawat declared in a post on X.

He further alleged that BJP representatives told him their government was guaranteed and that he would be made a minister if he defected. However, he stated his loyalty to AAP, asserting that he would never betray the party.

AAP’s Sanjay Singh Claims More MLAs Were Contacted

AAP MP Sanjay Singh also alleged that seven party MLAs received similar calls or were approached in person with offers from BJP leaders. He suggested that these attempts indicated the BJP was fearful of the election outcome.

“This clearly shows that the BJP has accepted its defeat even before the results and is now resorting to such tactics,” Singh said in a press conference.

BJP Dismisses Allegations, Calls It AAP’s ‘Frustration’

The BJP has strongly denied the allegations, with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva calling it a desperate move by AAP ahead of an expected loss in the elections.

“This is nothing but AAP’s frustration over their impending defeat,” Sachdeva said, rejecting the accusations outright.

With exit polls predicting a strong performance for the BJP in Delhi, the allegations have added to the political drama ahead of the official election results.
