A tragic accident in Jammu region claimed the lives of 10 Indian Army personnel after a military vehicle skidded off an icy road and fell into a 400-foot-deep gorge. The incident occurred in a high-altitude area where severe winter conditions have made roads extremely slippery.
Vehicle Lost Control on Snow-Covered Road
According to officials, the army vehicle lost traction due to ice and snow on the road, causing it to slide uncontrollably before plunging into the deep ravine. The impact severely damaged the vehicle, leaving little chance for immediate rescue.
Rescue Operation Launched
Army units, local administration, and emergency responders rushed to the site and launched a difficult rescue operation amid harsh weather and challenging terrain. Eleven injured soldiers were pulled out of the gorge and shifted to nearby medical facilities, where they are undergoing treatment.
Senior Officials Express Grief
Senior military officials have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and are closely monitoring the condition of the injured. An internal inquiry has been initiated to review the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Winter Travel Advisory Reinforced
Authorities have once again advised extreme caution for movement in snow-bound regions, as sub-zero temperatures continue to create hazardous road conditions across parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The fallen soldiers were remembered for their service and sacrifice, and condolences have poured in from across the country.
