Operation Sindoor – India Strikes Back at Terror Bases, Cites Right to Self-Defense

New Delhi: In a decisive military move, India has carried out coordinated strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting multiple terror bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was launched in the early hours of Tuesday in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed several innocent lives.

A Swift and Targeted Operation

According to official sources, the operation was brief but highly effective, lasting under 30 minutes. Indian forces struck nine identified terrorist training facilities, which were reportedly being used by groups involved in cross-border violence. The strikes were planned to avoid civilian areas and were focused solely on terror-linked infrastructure.

Why Operation Sindoor?

The operation was named “Sindoor” to symbolize protection and sacrifice—a nod to the lives lost in the Pahalgam attack and the country’s commitment to national security. The attack on Indian soil had sparked widespread outrage and triggered demands for strong retaliation.

India’s Official Statement

Government representatives confirmed that India acted based on reliable intelligence and in line with international norms for self-defense. The focus, they emphasized, was on neutralizing threats before they could cause further harm.

“This was not an act of escalation but an act of necessity,” said a senior government official. “India reserves the right to safeguard its citizens and sovereignty.”

Situation Across the Border

Reports from across the Line of Control claim civilian damage and loss of life. However, Indian authorities have clarified that only terror-related targets were engaged, using precision-guided weapons to avoid unintended casualties.

Retaliatory shelling has been observed in some border areas, prompting India to increase troop vigilance and civilian safety measures in vulnerable regions.

Security Measures at Home

With national tensions high, several Indian cities have initiated emergency drills, including mock evacuations, blackout rehearsals, and rapid response exercises. Schools and local communities have been advised to remain calm and follow official instructions.

An all-party meeting is expected to be held shortly to brief political leaders and maintain national unity amid rising cross-border tensions.

Global Response

While major world powers have urged both countries to maintain calm, there is acknowledgment of India’s right to act in self-defense against terror threats. Diplomatic conversations are ongoing to prevent the situation from escalating further.
